Allergy Shots Can Help Build Immunity

Allergy shots are something that many people are with familiar with but how many actually decide to take them?

They can be very beneficial by helping building up the immunity in the body.  I was on them some years back and found that they helped me tremendously but we moved and I never started them back up until recently.

And I'm so happy that I did.

Benefits of Allergy Shots

Some of the benefits of allergy shots that I've experienced are

  • no allergy symptoms
  • no eczema breakouts
  • no stomach pain due to excess mucus accumulation
  • simply feeling better

When I was on them from 2009-2010, I noticed that my body did amazingly.  So many symptoms that I had experienced were no longer present.  I was such a happy girl.

When we moved, I thought there was no need to continue on with them since I felt sooo good but in actuality, the allergy shots eventually wore off which is why I decided to get back on them now.

A couple of years afterward by body continued to do well.  My symptoms were still not bad and I was doing good with natural supplements and occasional antihistamines but over time, my allergies started to get worse.

How long to be on Allergy Shots?

So this question would be best answered by an allergist for each individual.  So definitely find a good allergist in your area and schedule an appointment.

The first time I started allergy shots, years back, I was on them for about a year but I should've been on them longer.  It was only a year because we moved and I just didn't start them back.

Now that I am getting allergy shots again, I will need to be on them for about 7 years in order for my body to reach immunity.  I'm very happy and grateful that I'm getting these because I've suffered for so long and felt that it's time to take my body back.

Hooray for a better feeling body.

Tips while on Allergy Shots

If you decide to be on allergy shots, be sure to discuss with your physician ways to help your body cope with allergens being injected into your body.

Here are some things that I do to help by body.

  • Take my antihistamines regular (talk to your doctor about how much) I've had to double/triple up on my zyrtec.
  • Use my allergy nasal spray everyday.  I have one that I use at night too (when I remember..lol)
  • Use a natural spray like Xlear.
  • I use Afrin periodically to help open up my sinuses when needed.
  • I use my neti pot.  The neti who...haha.  This is a God send.  It literally flushes all of the allergens out of my sinuses cavities.  It works miracles.
  • Drink lots of water and hot water/tea to thin the mucus.
  • I take supplements too to help with keeping the inflammation at bay.

I hope some of these help.
